CHARLES TOWN—Queensrÿche will bring to the Event Center at Hollywood Casino stage some of the band’s most memorable work as the Origins Part II tour arrives in Charles Town this weekend. Saturday night will have the band performing the full playthroughs of their first release, 1982 EP full playthroughs of their first release, 1982 EP Queensrÿche and their first full album, 1984’s The Warning, in its entirety as part of this tour.
Lead vocalist Todd Le Torre shared this week that this tour highlights the very roots of the band and their sound and style.
“These songs haven’t been played like this since 1984,” Le Torre said as he described what audience members will see when they arrive at the Event Center Saturday evening.
Le Torre shared that the band, that formed in 1983, is made of members, many of whom knew each other in Belleview, Washington and who jammed together before officially creating Queensrÿche. The current make-up of the band consists of two of the original members from the earliest days, Eddie Jackson and Michael Wilton. Three other members comprise the remainder of the group.
Since the start, the band has released 16 studio albums including the 1988 iconic Operation: Mindcrime and 1990’s Empire. As their website proclaims, the band’s name is uttered in the same breath as many of the groups they looked to as influences and others who arose as peers. Queensrÿche built a dedicated legion of fans traveling the globe on tour with fellow rock giants like Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Judas Priest and Def Leppard. In recent years, they’ve consistently delivered high-octane live shows combining the hungry fire of a new band with the tempered experience of master showmen.
Le Torre shared that the band is always excited to engage with the audience and is looking forward to delivering a great show at Hollywood Casino. He does not recall playing in West Virginia in the past and is definitely excited to bring Queensrÿche music and energy to the stage.
Special guest Jared James Nichols is a part of multiple stops on the tour including the show at Hollywood Casino.
